If you’re my friend, you’ve probably heard me preach the benefits of oregano oil over and over for its amazing array of benefits to help fight viruses and bacteria. With the changing of seasons, a lot of people tend to get colds and sicknesses, so I decided to do a post on some natural remedies that I’ve researched and am passionate about.
Oil of oregano and Echinacea are used as natural antivirals that are herbals to have on hand and start their usage immediately upon the first signs of an infection – a scratchy throat, runny nose, sneezing, etc. I don’t wait to see whether its just a cold or the actual flu and I attack the infection at the very early stages before it has time to manifest into a more serious infection. These are good to have in your medicine cabinet to fight ze common cold.
Soooo why!?! Ughh many people like to jump to take regular medicines like Robitussin (ya,…interned for the company that makes them a year ago), etc. and other things that mainly MASK symptoms! However, oregano oil and other natural remedies fight them!
Echinacea has many uses for preventing and shortening duration’s of colds and flu, fever, bronchitis, blocked sinuses, aches and pains. I like to take a few echinacea pills for days leading up to a big trip or event to make sure I prevent getting sick!
Oregano oil is a strong antimicrobial that helps congested sinuses, nose and ear infections. It is effective against a wide range of microbes: bacteria, viruses, fungus and parasites. It helps the respiratory system to move mucus and excretion. I take it at the first sign of a cold! I take oregano oil pills, but you can also buy the oil and drop it in warm water, tea throughout the day. It is a powerful compound and should only be taken for a short period of time- dont use this one everyday folks. Oregano oil has many uses and can be mixed with coconut oil to spot treat acne!! In high does, oregano oil is also comparable to an antibiotic, which I LOVE, because antibiotics are over-prescribed and leading to an antibiotic immunity/resistance because it is getting into our waters and food..etc..but thats another story..
In addition to these, I also like GT Kombucha for immune support – packed with enzymes and probiotics these drinks help fight colds as well! Also garlic is great for helping treat congestion and colds!
Get these at any health food store or vitamin shop!
